Meg's Learning Zone

What? For the past 2 weeks room 5, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 24 have been learning about the solar system.  So What? With Mr F we learnt about overpopulation. Mrs P taught us about how Earth has changed. Mr Hillary taught us about the water cycle. Mr R taught us about Earth's layers and Mrs Hall taught us about the solar system and what is special about each planet. Now What? Now I hope to learn more about space.

On the 15th and 16th of November. The Year 5's went to Woodend Christan Camp. We stayed for 1 night and 2 days. Sometimes we would get free time for about 1 hour and every free time I got I went on the really cool water slide where you can race someone. You can challenge someone to see who gets there first or who goes further. The thing I enjoyed the most was probably Go Karting and Archery Because in Go Karting I didn't crash the Kart once. And I am proud of Archery because I got really close to the bull's eye The thing I found most challenging was the team building because we had to get up a really high wall and go around two poles without detaching hands. Also we had to lift each other up the pole.

On the 15th and 16th of November the year 5's are going to Woodend for one night and two days and I am in a bunkroom with Amber.M ,Jordyn ,Zara ,Ella ,Anabel ,Caitlyn and Dania and it will be so much fun.

WHAT?      This week was literacy week We did many exciting things such as scavenger hunt,dress up day, Guess the teacher and finally a author came in to see us her name is Soraya Nicholas  SO WHAT? My Favourite activity during Literacy week was the scavenger hunt and the author Soraya Nicholas coming to visit us. 

WHAT? On Wednesday we had athletics So What? Some of the events were Shot Put Discus High Jump Long Jump Sprints NOW WHAT?

I.A.L.T Write an effective bit of persuasive writing. What? In 2018 Oaklands school is going to be redesigned and the kids are going to have a chance to put their ideas forward. So What? What I have enjoyed doing is drawing my designs and what I thought we could do was have honeycomb shelves and a better swimming pool. Now What? What I want to do next is draw my designs better.

What? I am learning to understand how words are formed using roots, prefixes and suffixes. So What? I have learned that words that have the root hydra- and aqua- mean water. For example Aquaman I have learned that words that have the root spect- mean look / see. For example Spectator Now what? I feel that I have a spectacular, understanding of the root words aqua-, hydra-, and spect-

When I first came into room 24 I was excited about having Mr Forman as my teacher.But I was worried about how much sport we needed to do. But after I realised that we didn't do as much as I expected

What? Last week on Thursday Room 24 went to the life education van to see Harold the giraffe. There we met Jamie the person who was taking us to see Harold. So What? What? Every Wednesday the class goes out with Mr Forman to do swimming lessons. First we start of doing warm up activities   before we get to the actual stuff So W hat? I enjoy doing the free time when Mr Forman chucks us in the pool. Yesterday I saw Mr Forman pushing Leah in the pool so I said "Mr Forman can you do that to me?" So he pulled me up so I was standing then he says "3 2 1" then suddenly Mr Forman pushed me in the pool I screamed! Now what? I want to get better at the bulldozer and (The Sam) BY MEG

What? Last week Oaklands school had a multicultural week where we celebrated the amazing range of cultures we have here. So What? This is my flag and poster of S C O T L A N D   The reason we did is because it is part of multicultural week. Another reason is because we need to celebrate other peoples cultures.  Each class had three people come in. Room 24 had Julia Kim, Mrs Banoori and Mrs Mann . Now What? We are going to be learning more about the different cultures in Room 24 this term, including healthy snacks.

For the past few days i have been reading a book called WHAT MAKES A MONSTER it is about STAR WARS . WHAT? I love this book because it is about ADVENTURE SO WHAT ? I liked this book because It tells you which planet the monster comes from It tells you what str eagth it has It tells you how it survives What it eats NOW WHAT? My goal is also to read a variety of genre this book is ADVENTURE the next genre i am going to read is MYSTERY.
